Contemporary, robust and with a sense of fun, the new Hyundai Tucson combines style with performance. The model also comes with a range of features to keep you entertained, informed and safe.
The new Hyundai Tucson incorporates many of the distinctive design elements that shape the firm’s current range of vehicles and heightens their bold looks. The hexagonal front grille blends into front headlights that wrap around the lower bonnet. Creases and contours bring definition to the body, and they are complemented by stylish 16-inch alloy wheels alongside a panoramic sunroof.
Inside the new Hyundai Tucson, a simple yet eye-catching dashboard plus comfortable upholstery creates a relaxing environment. The controls on the dash, centre console, steering wheel and armrest bring function and form together to create a satisfying end product. There is space for five people and, to help provide a little more cargo room, the rear seats are 60/40 split folding.
There are five trim levels – S, SE, SE Nav, Premium and Premium SE. Enjoy the benefits of dual-zone climate control which is a feature of all but the ‘S’ trims. While all grades feature a trip computer, the SE Nav and above gain an eight-inch touchscreen that comes with features such as satellite navigation and a reversing camera.
Rear-parking sensors are available with the SE grades and above to help make reversing into tight spots a simple task. Both Premium trims come with front-parking sensors, while the Premium SE, with automatic transmission, boasts a Smart Parking Assist System with side-mounted sensors and automatic steering support.
Choose from five engines, from a 1.6-litre petrol to a 2.0-litre high-power diesel unit. The latter offers maximum power of 183bhp and peak torque of 400Nm. A 1.7-litre diesel engine can deliver up to 61.7mpg combined and produce CO2 emissions as low as 119g/km.
You can choose between six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission, or decide upon automatic seven-speed Dual Clutch Transmission which comes with the 1.6-litre petrol engine. They all transfer power with minimal interruption and as efficiently as possible to raise the car’s fuel economy.
There are a range of safety features that are standard issue across all trims, including Brake Assist System, Anti-lock Brake System with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, and Electronic Stability Programme. They all help you to deal with a variety of driving conditions by taking corrective action if the vehicle becomes unstable. If the tyre pressure falls to an unsafe level, an alert to inflate the wheels is shown on the instrument panel to prevent an accident. If one were to happen, six airbags inflate in the cabin to protect everyone on board.
Air conditioning comes as standard, as does a DAB digital radio and MP3-compatible CD player which offer crystal-clear sound quality. Play music from most hand-held devices by connecting them to the USB and AUX ports. The addition of Bluetooth connectivity enables you to stream your favourite music from a mobile device and take calls hands-free. All sounds are relayed through six speakers, including two tweeters, positioned in the front and rear doors.
