New Kia Optima from Vantage in Scarborough & Bradford

The bold silhouette of the new Kia Optima makes an instant impression. Get to know the car and you will realise that it showcases the best elements of Kia’s design and technology. Well-powered and carefully balanced, the model is a joy to drive.

Exterior

A graceful curving roof gives the new Kia Optima its distinctive shape. A purposeful front end, complete with a chrome-trimmed grille, features fog lamps and LED daytime running to create an expressive face. The rear of the car also appeals with an uncomplicated arrangement. Eye-catching 17-inch alloy wheels have a subtle five-spoke design, and side sill mouldings bring a sculpted aesthetic to the exterior. Choose your new Optima’s body colour for the most attractive finish and select from the likes of Midnight Black or Bright Silver.

Interior

The cabin looks graceful with black cloth upholstery that is a match for the dark dashboard and door materials. The door handles, electric window switch panels and centre fascia surrounds contrast well with a metallic finish. Both the steering wheel and gear knob gain a stitched leather trim to lift the luxury feel of the car. For absolute comfort, the driver’s seat is height-adjustable and offers powered lumbar support. The wheel is tilt and telescopic adjustable too, while both front seats slide and recline. As well as delivering a relaxed drive, the new Kia Optima provides flexibility with 60/40 split folding second row seats.

Trim levels and equipment

The new model is available with three trim levels – Optima 1, Optima 2 and Optima 3. A sophisticated White Pearl body paint is available for Optima 2 and 3, as are 18-inch alloy wheels. With Optima 1 and 2, you will benefit from a seven-inch touchscreen with satellite navigation and an Infinity premium sound system which comes with 12 loudspeakers. From the range-topping Optima 3 you can enjoy a tilt-and-slide sunroof, in addition to an electric roll blind.

Engines and performance

The 1.7-litre engine generates 134bhp, emits as low as 128g/km of CO2 and returns combined fuel economy of 57.6mpg with manual transmission. It is also possible to go from 0-60mph in around ten seconds and reach a top speed of 125mph. Handling and overall performance have been improved by stiffening the chassis using high-strength steel. With greater rigidity the drive is smoother and feels stable as you take corners at speed.

Safety and technology

Electronic Stability Control and Vehicle Stability Management come as standard to maintain total control of the Optima by countering a loss of traction. When you pull away on a slope, Hill-start Assist stops the vehicle from rolling backwards into the vehicle behind. Collisions are unlikely, but if one does happen the twin front, side and curtain airbags protect from multiple angles.

Bluetooth connectivity has been included for both safety and convenience. It allows you to both take a call without removing a hand from the wheel and stream music from a smartphone or other device. USB and AUX ports give two extra media connectivity options. Air conditioning comes as standard to keep everyone comfortable in any weather, and a trip computer places key vehicle and trip information where you can see it clearly.
