The all-new Mazda CX-3 crossover has arrived at Vantage Mazda and is set to attract plenty of interest. The model is a compact SUV that blends a distinctive design with lively performance and running costs barely more than those of a supermini.
The all-new Mazda CX-3 is the next to incorporate the brand's KODO: Soul of Motion design language, which has been celebrated with a Red Dot Design award. A tall and athletic shape combines curving panels with refined details that separate the vehicle from its contemporaries. The shield-shaped grille and narrow halogen headlamps will be familiar to latest-generation Mazda owners, as will the shark fin antenna.
The fact that Mazda crafts certain aspects of the interior by hand illustrates its dedication to creating a vehicle that meets the very highest standards of quality. A black soft-touch dashboard with stitching holds the leather-wrapped steering wheel and as standard the seats are wrapped in premium black cloth with grey piping. The cabin is also highly practical, featuring a 60:40 split folding rear bench which expands the 350-litre boot to a generous 1,260 litres.
The modern motorist expects a host of in-car technology with any new model and the all-new Mazda CX-3 may surprise with how much is available. Even as standard there is a Mazda multimedia system with 7" colour touch-screen, DAB radio, iPod® connectivity and USB connectivity. One of the most notable features is the integrated Bluetooth® system, as it enables you to link a smartphone to the display and access apps including Aha™ and Stitcher™.
The manufacturer's SKYACTIV Technology is the reason for the small crossover's agility, responsiveness and economical output. It plays a part under the bonnet, across the body and throughout the chassis to let you experience a unique and enjoyable driving dynamic every time you hit the road. For power there is a choice between SKYACTIV-G petrol and SKYACTIV-D diesel engines offered with either two or All-Wheel Drive (AWD). Up to 70.6mpg combined can be achieved by the 105ps 1.5-litre diesel unit, while the 150ps AWD petrol unit thrusts the CX-3 from 0-60mph in around 8.7 seconds.
The crossover is built around a strong and rigid SKYACTIV-Body that provides excellent protection from impacts, but it's unlikely you'll ever need it for this reason. Mazda has developed a number of clever active technologies to help you avoid trouble. Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), Emergency Stop Signalling (ESS), Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Traction Control System (TCS) and Hill Hold Assist (HHA) are just some of the most notable and they're all fitted as standard.
