Enjoy safe motoring with Vantage

The European New Car Assessment Programme is an independent crash-test safety organisation. More commonly referred to as Euro NCAP, the body’s findings are of great importance to the automotive industry in general, and motorists in particular. One of the first questions a prospective buyer asks when looking at a new car is: “How safe is it?”

Euro NCAP rigorously tests new cars every year; mid-way through December 2017, it released its latest results.

The report was a mixed bag, to say the least, and included the first ever zero-star safety rating, for the Fiat Punto.

Happily, there were some successes, including a pair of cars that are available now from Vantage: the new Hyundai Kona SUV and the Toyota Yaris.

There was more good news in 2017. Thatcham Research, which is the UK’s only Euro NCAP-accredited crash-testing centre, released its list of top ten safe cars. Included were the Honda Civic and the Toyota C-HR, both of which can be purchased from your nearest Vantage showroom.

We are delighted to supply cars that meet with Euro NCAP’s exhaustive safety criteria. Along with passive protective features such as multiple airbags, seatbelt pre-tensioners and load-limiters and safety belt reminders, each of the aforementioned vehicles comes with an array of driver aids.

For example, each is fitted with Electronic Stability Programme and Anti-lock Braking System as standard, which both help to minimise loss of traction. All Civic, C-HR and Yaris models feature Autonomous Emergency Braking too, an important piece of technology that significantly reduces the chances of rear-end collisions.

New in 2017, the Hyundai Kona comes with plenty of other useful safety features, including driver-fatigue monitoring, Hill-hold Assist, Hill-descent Control and Lane Keeping Assist.

The Toyota Yaris also includes hazard warning lights, which are automatically activated in the event of an emergency stop, providing an instant warning to vehicles that are following.

Euro NCAP’s crash-testing guidelines have become ever more stringent, which means that any vehicle that passes with a maximum five-star rating is performing very well indeed. It’s a testament, then, to vehicles such as the Hyundai Kona, Toyota Yaris, Honda Civic and Toyota CH-R that they have each passed with flying colours.
