Vantage ŠKODA supports The Motability Scheme, an important government-backed initiative that enables disabled motorists to use their mobility allowance to lease a new car. At Vantage, we are dedicated to helping our ŠKODA customers find a vehicle to suit their individual requirements.
Drivers on the Motability Scheme can choose from a selection of ŠKODA cars. Whether you’re looking for a compact city car or a spacious family MPV, we’ll help you find the right vehicle and make any adjustments you might need. Even if you don’t hold a driving license, the flexible scheme allows recipients of the mobility allowance to lease a Mobility car and nominate up to two other drivers.
If you have evidence of receiving one of the following government mobility supplements you should generally be accepted for a Motability vehicle, although it's crucial to be sure that you have at least 12 months' of payments remaining.
There is no upper age limit for applying to the scheme, although there is an upper age limit of 64 for applying to receive disability related benefits for the very first time. Also, if you're a parent or guardian of a child over three years of age who collects the HRMC DLA, you can order a vehicle for use on their behalf.
There are two leasing options available for Motability motorists: Contract Hire and Hire Purchase.
The Contract Hire agreement covers a three-year period and cars leased under the agreement have a mileage limit of 60,000 miles. This is the most popular option, allowing you to 'rent' your car, and costs such as insurance, road tax and aftersales care are included in the lease. Hire Purchase is an agreement of between two and five years that lets you buy your vehicle. There is no mileage limit, but you'll be responsible for all running costs and aftersales care, as well as tax and insurance.
Our team are skilled in identifying the best cars for a variety of personal circumstances, and will make sure that you find a car that will empower you to feel independent and mobile. Talk to us at Vantage ŠKODA and one of our trained members of staff can take you through the details of the scheme, including what requirements you may have in terms of modifications and adjustments to the vehicle, such as installing wheelchair hoists and hand-operated pedal controls.
