ŠKODA Recalls, How will this affect you?

What is a recall?

Vehicle recall notices are an unfortunate reality. Nearly 1 million vehicles return to dealers to undergo safety checks or rectification work annually. These notices are given in line with the Official Vehicle Safety Recall Scheme which is commanded by the Vehicle Safety Branch of the DVSA.

ŠKODA pride themselves on the safety and reliability of their vehicles. They’re constantly alert to any issues with performance and reliability so that they are in the best position to recall the car to resolve any issues that may crop up across the life scan of the vehicle.

Whilst the term ‘recall’ may have negative connotations for many we prefer to look at it in a more positive manner. The recall system is in place to make sure that we can uphold safety and quality expectations, we would never want you to distrust the reliability of your ŠKODA. Additionally, you don’t need to be a customer of Vantage for us to carry out rectification work. If you have bought that car elsewhere it doesn’t matter. Our ŠKODA trained technicians will carry out any work deemed necessary by the DVSA and the manufacturer will pick up the bill.

What is a safety defect?

In essence a safety defect is a design or construction failure that could affect the safe operation of a vehicle. This would likely put the driver and occupants or other road users at risk.

These kind of defects may be difficult to pick up during routine maintenance of a vehicle or during normal driving conditions. They would likely involve a sudden failure with little or no warning for the driver to avert danger.
