Located directly in front of the driver in their line of sight means that they don't have to take their eyes off the road.
Hyundai SmartSense is the name for the driver assistance programmes which are available on the Kona. This includes lane keep assist, which uses sensors to monitor the road lines, if you start to stray out of your lane it will notify you and start to adjust your steering accordingly. There is also blind spot detection, available on the Premium model and above, which uses sensors to monitor if someone is close to your rear bumper and alerts you to the fact that someone is coming up along side you, this is especially useful when driving on the motorway.
