Glen is Centre Principal at Toyota Wakefield and one of our very own Vantage Veterans. Having worked in the Automotive trade for over 23 years, working for Vantage since 2001, he has been here from the start! Glen begun his career at the centre as a Sales Controller and has worked his way to the top to become Centre Principal, managing and leading the team at Wakefield.
Known to his team as Snowy, Glen loves the fact that Vantage is a small but growing company with family values at its heart and always putting the customer's needs first.
He is also a true advocate of Toyota, having recently spent time in Japan with Toyota GB at a Master Class studying the Toyota way and expanding his knowledge on its core principles to replicate back at the dealership to benefit both his team and customers.
Please note that Glen's considerable lack of hair in his photo is because he shaved it off for charity!
Darren, Sales Manager at Toyota Wakefield, has worked in the car industry for over 12 years and has worked for 6 different manufacturers which has allowed him to develop his knowledge and sales technique. He enjoys working for Toyota as he believes that they have a fantastic product range and a great team at Wakefield who all have the Vantage ethos of 'A Passion to Please'.
As he's got older, Darren thinks his taste in cars has changed. 15 years ago, his Toyota of choice would have been the GT86 but now he thinks the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid is perfect for his lifestyle as it combines practicality for his kids but also has a smooth drive. This helps when he commutes from York to Wakefield every day!
Darren used to play Rugby League and, when he was 11 years old, was fortunate enough to play at Wembley in the curtain raiser of the Challenge Cup Final in 1988 in front of 75000 people!
With 23 years motortrade experience, including 20 years with Toyota, Parts Manager Darren is a knowledgeable member of the team at Toyota Wakefield. Darren always knew he wanted to work in the automotive industry, from being younger when he used to take apart cars and put them back together again, to now working for Toyota who he feels sell great products and have a fantastic customer care ethos.
When he's not working, Darren enjoys spending time watching films, playing football or looking after his 2 daughters who are 4 & 9 years old.
Phil Coles is the Transaction Manager at Toyota Wakefield, working for Vantage since 2016 when the site was acquired. Phil has 14 years experience in the car industry and enjoys working for Toyota because of the kind-nature of their customers alongside the reliability of Toyota vehicles. Phil has also been lucky enough to experience working for another of our manufacturers, Honda, in the Middle East!
When he's not in our Wakefield showroom, Phil can be found spending quality time with his wife and daughters.
George Barton is the Business Development Manager at Toyota Wakefield, and with almost 36 years of motor trade experience, is a valuable asset to Vantage Toyota. He first joined the motor industry at the tender age of 23, with the hopes of making lots of money, and 36 years later is still loving the industry and working for Toyota because both the product and the customer service are second to none.
George's favourite Toyota is the AYGO because it exceeds everyones expectations, however is a huge fan of the whole Toyota range.
In his free time away from the dealership, George is a family man and enjoys spending time with his daughters and grandchildren, as well as supporting his son who has a huge passion for motorcycle racing. Last year he won 'Thundersport Nationwide 500 Champion' and has also won 'Thundersport Champion of Champions' by beating more competitors in his field than any other rider in the world!
Sophie, our Motability Specialist at Toyota Wakefield, is relatively new to the motor industry. She joined in 2015 after looking for a new experience and is delighted she chose Toyota as her first manufacturer to work for because they are a very loyal brand and she's proud to work for a manufacturer with so many positive reviews.
She trained as a Motability Specialist in May 2016 and she really loves working alongside a great team. Her favourite thing about being a Motability specialist is seeing her customers leave the showroom happy and excited for their new car.
Her favourite Toyota is definitely the C-HR because it's very modern and completely different to any other Toyota in the range.
In her spare time, Sophie enjoys shopping or watching the Huddersfield Giants play rugby. She's also training to get her private pilots license so flying is a huge hobby of hers too!
