Compare Summer and Winter Tyres

Did you know that Summer Tyres and Winter Tyres are made differently? It can be beneficial to change your vehicle tyres seasonally. Winter and summer tires differ in several key areas: tread pattern, rubber composition, and their performance in varying temperatures. Winter tires are optimized for temperatures below 7°C, providing superior grip on cold, snowy, and icy surfaces and reducing stopping distances. Summer tires excel in warmer conditions, offering great traction on dry or wet roads while also helping to improve fuel efficiency.

Summer Tyres

  • Soft compound
  • Less grooves
  • Improved speed/agility

Winter Tyres

  • Stay flexible
  • More grooves
  • Better Traction

Part-worn Tyre Safety Checklist:

  • The legal minimum tyre depth for cars is 1.6mm in a continuous band throughout the central three-quarters of the tread width, throughout the whole of the tyre circumference.
  • Tyres must be suitably inflated for the purpose in which your car is being used (heavy loads, long distances, road conditions).
  • Tyres must not have a cut, in excess of 25mm or 10% of the tyre section width, whichever is greater, which is deep enough to reach the tyre’s internal structure.
  • Tyres must not have a lump, bulge or tear caused by separation or partial failure of its structure.
  • Tyres must not have any ply or cord exposed.
