Vantage Toyota York, has donated
£1,750 to help fund the transformation of a plot of disused land at Headlands
Primary School to create a children's 'dream playground'.
The area, for the Year 1 and 2
classes, has been designed by the children themselves and includes a mud pit,
castle and guinea pig area!
The new playground will be
used by 135 of the children aged between five and seven. The regeneration project
will begin during the summer holidays with our very own
Vantage team members offering a helping hand to bring the children's
designs to life.
On hearing of the project, Tom
Wash, Sales Manager at Vantage Toyota York, encouraged Headlands Primary School
to apply for a grant from Toyota's community initiative, 'Fund for a Better
Tomorrow', and was delighted to hand over the maximum donation of £1,750
towards the project. A total of £6,000 was needed to fund the project, with the
rest of the funding donated by the school's Parent Teacher's Association.
Tom Wash said: “We have a
close relationship with Headlands Primary School at the dealership, with two of
my own children attending, so we were especially keen to support this project.
“We were delighted when Toyota
granted us the money which has enabled the school to reach its fundraising
target and help the children realise their creative vision."
Sarah Wright, Head Teacher at
Headlands Primary School said: “The regeneration of the playground is part of
our commitment to our children's education through encouraging a healthy and
active lifestyle. To be able to create something which they have designed using
their own imaginations is a lovely thing and we are extremely grateful to
Vantage and the PTA for being so generous."
