2021 Shanghai Motor Show

The theme of the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show is “Embracing Change”, and so there has been an increasing number of electric cars and intelligent driving solutions taking centre stage this year as the automotive industry journeys towards an electric future. Citroën, Lexus, and Toyota are all debuting exciting new vehicles in this year’s Shanghai Auto Show. We have provided some initial details that have been confirmed about these models below.


Citroën

Citroën are showcasing their upcoming C5 X which will be on sale in the UK in late 2021 and will be available with petrol and plug-in hybrid engines. The C5 X has an immediately striking look thanks to its assertive, robust stance, featuring a sleek body style which blurs the line between saloon and estate, also adding in notes inspired by premium SUVs.

Lexus

Lexus has revealed an updated version of the ES at the Shanghai Motor Show which will be available in the UK later this year. The most notable changes are the new “BladeScan” adaptive LED headlights and new wheel and paint colour options. Additionally, the rear suspension has been tweaked to make the car more agile at high speeds and the hybrid motor’s regenerative braking system has been optimised even further. The Lexus ES will also be fitted with the latest Safety System+ suite of driver assistance features.


Toyota

This Shanghai Motor Show, Toyota have debuted the New Toyota bZ4X, a battery-electric SUV which combines the best elements of the current RAV4 and Prius. Hopefully more details of the car’s performance will be released soon, however it has been confirmed that it will have a dual motor setup and an all-wheel-drive system. The bZ4X marks the start of plans for Toyota to release 15 electric cars by 2025, with the production version of the car to come in 2022.
