Vantage Transports GB Cycling Star to Rio 2016

At Vantage, we are proud to announce our new sponsorship of Team GB cycling champion Katy Marchant, providing her with a car to get her to and from training in the run-up to Rio 2016. Katy is a former heptathlete who made the talent transfer into cycling in 2013 when Jessica Ennis’ coach Tony Minichiello, realised her potential. In 2015, Katy won the under-23 European keirin title as well as all four national titles in team sprint, sprint individual, kierin and the 500 metre time trial. In May, Katy will be travelling to Germany to take part in a series of races to gain further competition experience ahead of Rio.

Katy commutes 120 miles most days of the week from her home in Leeds to the National Cycling Centre in Manchester to fulfil her training requirements. She is currently preparing for her likely Olympic debut in Rio this summer, following team selection at the end of June, where she will compete in the individual sprint.

When we heard that Katy's travel and previous vehicle were costing her considerable amounts, we wanted to help and our teams recommended the Mazda CX3 as a practical and fuel efficient car, perfect for her and her training requirements. Katy is now the proud driver of a ceramic white Mazda CX3 which will help her on her way to victory at this year’s Olympics.

Vantage Managing Director Mark Robinson, said: “When we heard that Katy was experiencing high fuel costs that could be detrimental to her training, we immediately considered ways in which Vantage could help.

“The Mazda CX3 is an ideal car for commuting on a regular basis and will see that Katy’s journeys are not only cost efficient, but safe and comfortable too. We’re delighted to be helping Katy on her way to the 2016 Olympics in Rio and wish her all the very best of luck! We’ll be watching on proudly.”

Katy said: “I’m really grateful to Vantage for their support as I pursue my Olympic dreams. The car couldn’t have come at a better time as my training at the moment is more frequent and intense than ever. It’s a weight off my mind knowing I can travel to and from the velodrome in Manchester without having to worry about the costs. Not only this, but the car has given me a real need for speed. I hope to match the speed of the Mazda on the M62 when I hit the race tracks in Rio in August!”

We wish you the best of luck in the lead up to Rio & can't wait to watch you on our screens Katy!
