The Vantage Vikings take on the Dragon Boat Challenge!

Here at Vantage, charity is something that is very close to our hearts. Our centres pride themselves on regularly participating in local charity events and fundraisers, as well as organising events themselves, to raise money for their chosen charities.

At Toyota Wakefield, it is no different! When the team heard that applications had opened for the annual Wakefield Dragon Boat Challenge, held at Pugneys Country Park in Wakefield on Saturday 9th July 2016, they were determined to get a team together and take part to raise as much money as possible for Wakefield Hospice. The team at Wakefield took part last year and raised a lot of money for the hospice as well as having a lot of fun and they're hoping to repeat that this year!

The annual Dragon Boat Challenge is organised by the Rotary Clubs of Huddersfield and Wakefield Chantry, raising over £200,000 in the past 7 years. The challenge consists of a 250m course, across which each team races against the clock. The winner is determined by comparing each teams fastest time!

All departments at Toyota Wakefield have come together to organise a team for the event, consisting of 16 paddlers and a drummer, organising team training sessions and fundraising events to raise extra money for Wakefield Hospice. We think it's a fantastic and fun idea to raise money for charity - well done everyone!

You can sponsor the Vantage Vikings online here or why not pop down on the 9th of July? Entry is free for spectators and there's lots to do for all ages!

Good luck team!
