Am I eligible for Motability?

To join the Scheme, you need to be in receipt of Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance, Enhanced Rate of the Mobility Component of Personal Independence Payment, War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement or Armed Forces Independence Payment.

What is the higher rate mobility component?

Higher rate mobility component is provided by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and can be used to cover the cost of a Motability Scheme lease agreement.

What is contract hire?

Contract Hire is a type of lease agreement that allows Motability Operations Ltd to provide eligible customers with a new car for a specific period of time. 

How does the Motability Scheme work?

The Motability Scheme helps disabled people get mobile. Eligible customers can exchange their mobility allowance to lease a car, scooter, powered wheelchair or wheelchair accessible vehicle.

How does Motability work with PIP?

Personal Independence Payment (PIP) is a Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) allowance. This may be exchanged for a vehicle on the Motability Scheme. 

Can I learn to drive in my Motability car?

Yes, it is possible to learn to drive in your Motability Scheme car. 

Do you need to have a driving license to qualify for the Motability Scheme?
